Sexuality: He's actually very indifferent about his sexuality, and rarely has actual "crushes" on people. There's no point, there's no time. He finds girls cute and attractive, but he's been around boys all his life. And if he's been with Mello during said life, well, he might find it hard to stay straight. If he's going to go for a boy, they most likely have to be feminine.

Appearance:
Matt has brown-red hair that hangs down in his eyes in the front, but is otherwise short (a bit long for your normal boy, though). He has hazel eyes that are always covered up by orange-tint goggles. He's tall-ish, slim with toned arms, and has a bit of a baby-face. He wears nothing but striped shirts, jeans, large combat boots and the occasional pair of mad scientist/Darth Vader gloves, as well as a chain wallet. For the winter he has a tan vest with white fur, which is often viewed as his "fugly vest." A gamer for life, he's constantly busy with his PSP or DS, which can be seen with him at all times somewhere on his person. And, unfortunately for his lungs, he's a smoker, so it's not rare to see a lit cigarette poking from the corners of his mouth.
Personality:
Matt is a very indifferent person in public. He stands off to the back, would much prefer to stay indoors than go outside, and thus has close to no social life. A loyal and trustworthy young man, he's earned the reputation for being a "dog" to those he's closest to. Once Matt's found someone he can trust, he's the most loyal being that person will have ever met, and will do anything for them. Even in his 'dog' state of mind, though, he has a sense of individuality and lets people know when he's tired of being treated a certain way. He tries to keep the peace and is submissive when he sees fit, such as in an argument when it's best to back down and "come quietly". His sense of justice is what leads him to pursue a major in criminology.
He's observant of people's actions and motives, and would make a good detective. It's easy for him to lay low, seeing as he doesn't stand out much in the crowd (well, except for his goggles, those are pretty eye-catching). It's easy for him to get ideas of situations, but seeing that he'd rather sit on the couch with his PSP, well, he hasn't had much practice with assessing sudden situations further than the random zombie popping out from nowhere. This isn't to say he's not a strategist to some extent, he can make a plan easy enough, but whether he wants to carry it out or not is a different story; on a scale of one to ten, his Motivation and Willingness to Act are at an equal 7 (taken from How to Read 13). He's one of those guys that's smart but doesn't really care. If he tried, he could be in the top percent of his class. But alas, he leaves things up to fate and how long it takes for him to take down the next boss. Unhealthy, stupid or just plain bizarre, everyone who's known him has yet to figure out.
Matt's goofy side is rarely seen, and if it is the people around don't know how lucky they are to see it. He's all smiles and jokes, fake salutes and pathetic whining. He has a tendency to lay on the person he trusts the most, game system in hand and goggles hiding his bright, green-blue hazel eyes. Overall he doesn't care what people think and doesn't mind showing affection. Of course, one would have to be especially close for Matt to even voluntarily brush up against them.
History:
Matt grew up in an orphanage specializing in schooling gifted boys so that they may have a good start for whenever they get adopted. He has no memory of his original family, and quite honestly doesn't care. He sees no point in fretting over a family he can't recall the blurred faces of. He was eventually adopted, and with the reluctant permission of his new family, kept his last name.
He's made it through school with all A's, save one B. He's never had to try, never had to study; it all came naturally. Vaguely he wonders if this is because of the orphanage or just because of his gifted-ness. Either way, he's made it to the University with amazing grades and no marks on his behavior record (considering he was never caught for all the times he's hacked into the school's system...). He's never been in sports of any kind, but was, oddly, in a few clubs concerning computers, video games, electronics, and other "nerdy" things of the like. This was an odd development because of his anti-social personality, but as long as he was making friends--or, rather, acquaintances--it was all fine by his family.
